Case Description
My daughter is 17 years old and has been told that she needs a root canal on tooth 32(not sure). I have been quoted $1190.00. Her wisdom tooth is right behind the tooth that needs the root canal. The Dr. said that after the root canal is preformed she needs to have her wisdom tooth extracted. My question is wouldn't it be better to pull the tooth that needs the root canal and let the wisdom tooth come in with the help of braces? I am wondering why save a tooth that needs a root canal if a undecayed tooth could take it's place. Thank you in advance for your advise.

Are You This Patient?
When selecting a new doctor, consider the following:
Quality of Explanations: Compare dentist replies. Give preference to well-reasoned, detail-oriented, transparent explanations.
Experience & Qualifications: If a dentist has a practice listing, check their practice description,
special training, typical office procedures and before & after case photographs.
Other Patients' Freedback: If a dentist has reviews, read other patients' reviews. The more
reviews they have, the more likely it is that other patients' feeback is accurate.
Treatment Costs: Dental procedure costs vary from practice to practice and depend on a variety of factors.
Because quality of patient care and treatment results vary from practice to practice most dentists will not "price-match" treatment fees of others.

You need to seek advice from an orthodontist as well. Moving a wisdom tooth into position will cost you more than $1190. You also need to consider the amount of treatment time involved, amount of healing time, and success/failure rate. Whatever your decision, don''''t let finances determine the outcome (because your daughter is worth the expense). Dr. Cao
